'most media texts target a range of different audiences' how true is this for your chosen texts?
The american television series "Madmen" set in the 1960's has shown a range of different audiences, using the uses and gratifications in the episode "The other woman" i found the main audience age range was from 40-60 as it appealed more to them, taking more of a personal identity towards the characters. People who experienced the madmen life style would see drinking and smoking in the work place and using the women as objects as acceptable, taking a preferred reading and being entertained by the story line ( escapism from this fast pasted life style today), where as the younger generation particularly women would use the oppersitional reading with the way joan has been represented with the sex for money, many women may have had a connection with the character Peggy with her strong willed personality, and attitude to work (personal identity with the character).
