How do your chosen texts attract their audiences?

At the beginning of season one, episode two of lost Walt the young boy is out in the forest looking for his lost dog. While looking for his dog he sees some hand cuffs which are used as part of a enigma, creating mystery of who they belong too. The non-diegetic sound of the rumbling makes the audience's reponse excited and hooked to carry on watching to find out what is going to happen. The innocence of the young child makes the audience more worried as they feel scared for him because the dad, michael is running around looking for him.  The rumbling gets every loud when the dad takes the handcuffs of walt, then it goes black and quiet and jumps to a fight which has no music just non-diegetic punches, this then makes the audience wanting to know why the characters are fighting. Jack is trying to split the fight up, taking the role of the hero in the story line with sawyer as the villian causing trouble between the group.
