Sin City has a range of different genres making the film a hybrid. This gives the postmodern film a variety of genre, Film noir, comic and horror, the main genre is film noir making the others sub genres. The film is very typical to the genre containing many conventions of a film noir for example down beat jazz, always night time with rain, thunder and lightening, flashbacks and also the characters using a femme fatale to sexually maniplulate the protagonist, usally resulting in death. The genre also backs up the typical film noir by using the urban background as film noir films reflect the "chilly cold war" period. The style of film that reflects the times and society which they were made in, making the film feel more realistic and scary relating to the sub genre horror.
